Diamond Engineering Signs the Armed Forces Covenant

Diamond Engineering has formally registered its commitment to the Armed Forces community after signing the Armed Forces Covenant, marking an important step in the company’s ongoing commitment to supporting serving personnel, Reservists, veterans and their families.

The Armed Forces Covenant provides a framework for organisations to recognise the value that members of the Armed Forces community bring to businesses and wider society, while helping to ensure that those who serve, or have served, are not disadvantaged because of their service.

For Diamond Engineering, the commitment is about putting that principle into practice.

The company already has members of the Armed Forces community within its workforce, including Reservists and former servicemen. As part of its Covenant commitments, Diamond Engineering will continue to build its understanding of how it can support current and former service personnel, while developing its approach to recruiting and supporting people with military backgrounds.

The company has also committed to promoting awareness of the Armed Forces and supporting opportunities for employment, education, training and skills development within the Armed Forces community.

These commitments reflect a wider belief at Diamond Engineering that the skills and experience gained through military service can translate extremely well into engineering and manufacturing environments. Discipline, teamwork, technical ability, leadership and the ability to work effectively under pressure are all qualities that have a natural place within the industry.

The signing of the Covenant is viewed by Diamond Engineering as the starting point for further action. As the company develops its support for the Armed Forces community, Diamond Engineering also intends to progress towards the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) Bronze Award.

The ERS provides a three-stage framework, Bronze, Silver and Gold, recognising organisations that demonstrate increasing levels of commitment to Defence and the Armed Forces community. Bronze is the first step on that journey and provides an opportunity for employers to formally demonstrate their support.

For Diamond Engineering, pursuing Bronze will provide a natural next step from the Covenant and an opportunity to build on the commitments already made. The company will continue working to understand the needs of its Armed Forces community, raise awareness internally and look at practical ways it can become an increasingly Forces-friendly employer.
